How to Increase the Longevity of Your Aesthetic Treatments

How to Increase the Longevity of Your Aesthetic Treatments

We all love the confidence and the refreshed, uplifting look that the aesthetic treatments provide us with; however, we all know that they will eventually wear off. One of our most frequently asked questions is 'How can I extend the results of my botox treatments?'

If you are noticing that other peoples treatments are lasting for longer periods than yours, continue reading as we share some of the many 'secrets' that are said to extend the lasting effect of your treatments.

1. Seek a Skilled Injector like Dr. Kasia. You may have heard that the quality of your botox depends on the injector and not the injectable. To achieve a natural, rejuvenated look, it is essential that you choose a knowledgeable, understanding and highly qualified provider that can customise the treatment to their client and their desired look.

2. Avoid the Sun and Sunbeds. It is well known that sun damage results in premature wrinkles as the sun causes damage to the skin. The UV rays prompt the formation of free radicals within the skin, which damages the elastin fibres, contributing to dehydrated skin and wrinkling. A high-quality sun protectant is key to reducing skin damage and maintaining the results of your treatments.

3. Eat Healthily. Your diet has a drastic impact on both the appearance and health of your skin. We suggest limiting your intake of processed food and refined sugars as they can cause inflammation which decreases the results of the treatments whilst also increasing the speed of ageing. Refer to our blog post on '5 Foods to Help Skin Health' for more help.

4. Zinc Supplements. Research shows that taking zinc supplements may help extend the results of botox. A study has proved that patients who took a supplement of zinc and phytase (an enzyme delaying the breakdown of zinc in our bodies) experienced a 30 per cent increase in their botox duration. Daily intakes of zinc and phytase supplements could lengthen the effects of your treatment.

5.Maintainance Treatments. The best way to extend the effects of your treatments would be to schedule regular maintenance treatments before they wear off. If your facial muscles begin to train themselves to contract less and respond to the neurotoxin for longer periods, the time between each treatment will be extended. Therefore, it is essential to work with a surgeon to create a customised treatment plan for you.

To achieve beautiful skin, you must recognise that a healthy lifestyle contributes to the longevity of your treatments.
